THREAD VEINS
& ROSACEA
Facial thread veins or broken red veins (telangiectasia) are small superficial red, purple or blue veins that occur around the nose and across the cheeks and chin. These broken veins occur when the vein dilates and become larger so they are visible through the transparency of the skin.
What types of veins can be treated?

Rosacea, Facial tread veins, broken red veins, spider naevi and port wine stains.

How does the treatment work?

IPL transmits light through the skin where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Rosacea areas can be treated by shutting down the larger more obvious blood vessels as Rosacea tends to have clusters of vessels in an isolated area.

IPL stimulates the collagen internally, this then gives strength to the capillary walls ensuring the rosacea outbreaks are less severe and happen less often. Treatment is suitable for most people; however best results are with those of untanned/fair skin.

How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is described as a warm heated pin prick sensation on the skin.

Are there any side effects?
Immediately after treatment the area may be red and feel warm and the skin slightly raised but this usually diminishes within a few hours. The skin may also appear darker, this is normal. Darkening of the blood vessels are common, initially this means they have been destroyed and will later disappear.

How many treatments are necessary?
Typically, 3 to 6 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small areas may clear in just a single session. This will be discussed and explained at the consultation. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.
